The Prayer of the Righteous

Week 4- Day 2

The earnest [heartfelt, continued] prayer of a righteous man
makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have
[with feelings, affections, and a constitution like ours];
and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain,
and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months.
And [then] he prayed again and the heavens supplied rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].” James 5:15b,16 Amplified Bible

If it is the prayers of the righteous that are effective and have power and the heart that is completely His that He strongly supports, then it is very helpful to our spiritual wellbeing for us to allow Him to challenge us with the truth of His Word and to search our hearts to reveal to us:

-what type of misbelief or unbelief we are currently struggling with,
-if we truly believe what He says is true,
-if we are living that truth out (hearing and doing),
-if we have clear ‘boundaries’ against the enemy because of our faith in Him and His Word.  If so, we can say to the enemy, ‘You will go no further’ and take the authority that we know we have.

As we have been focused on the Word and prayer and have allowed the Lord to search our own hearts these last few weeks, whether you realize it or not, we have been focused on rebuilding or strengthening our own ‘ramparts’.

Within the body of Christ this is so important because when our walls are down, it gives the enemy the opportunity (a place, Eph. 4:27) to come in and set up new ‘rules’ contrary to the Word of God, even 'doctrines of demons' within the church (1 Tim.4:1). Ask God to open your eyes to see how this may be happening in the world around you and pray against it.

May this cause us to weep and fast and pray before the God of heaven and listen to what He may tell us to do about it (Nehemiah 1:4).
