Watch

Week 4-day 5

Watch the ramparts.

We will continue to pray for our church’s ‘ramparts’, the body of Christ’s ‘ramparts’, and our own, but we are going to transition into dealing with a second definition of ramparts, which is ‘a defensive fortification made of an earthen embankment, often topped by a low protective wall, and this leads us to focus on the enemy’s ‘ramparts’.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:11-13

There is a call of God for us, as His people, to take our place on the those high places, our strong ramparts (knowing our God and His truth and power and standing on the love that surpasses knowledge, Eph 3:19)

AND also at the same time because we have a real enemy,

as we march forward (move forward), watch the depths, the ‘incognito’ in our midst, not looking particularly ominous (just an earthen low wall).

From the ‘watchtowers’ of our ramparts, see where the enemy is in hiding and do not disregard as nothing and fall into the trap. Don’t ignore the signs. When we see the ‘earthen, low wall’, KNOW that there is an enemy and fight.  May we not let down our guard. The earthen, low wall is all he has; we have the Strong Tower and all the weapons needed.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous runs into it and is safe (set on high).” Proverbs 18:10

Do not walk into and fall into his defensive fortifications. The enemy really is on the defensive so don’t retreat. March on, ready to take his ramparts.

May we be watching in the spirit from the watchtower- that that is our ‘job’ so that we can even say on behalf of those whom we are covering in prayer, "Here is where we are headed out into the world; now watch this rampart.”

Know the plot before you come across it to be ready and to even take the battle there TO the enemy.

Go plunder his ramparts and take back ground.

Watch the ramparts.  Don’t ignore them.
